Florentines Patisserie Deli and Coffee Shop Penarth
Florentines Patisserie and Delicatessen Penarth
Beautiful food made with care, knowledge and the expertise gained from years of experience is something we can enjoy every day now that Florentines Patisserie and Delicatessen has opened on Glebe Street in Penarth.
With the emphasis on quality, and with many of the products made on the premises, Florentines offers a full range of patisserie, a carefully chosen delicatessen counter and a tempting menu of dishes to eat in the coffee shop/cafe in Penarth.
Owners Chris Voakes and Jan Howells opened Florentines in November last year, bringing Jan’s many years in the food industry and Chris’s love of cooking together in the business.
“Our patisserie selection is huge, from coffee and walnut cake, Victoria sponge, Bakewell tarts, brownies, pies and croissants to a range of diabetic and gluten free treats, all made by Jan,” says Chris.
“Customers love our ornate decorated cup cakes and celebration cakes, and cakey pops – cake on a lollipop stick – are favourites with children.”
Over in the deli section, Chris has sourced a range of exclusive Welsh cheeses, some very fine prosciutto, salamis, olive oil and other cooking ingredients to accompany his own home-cured ham and salt beef.
“I cure and bake the ham on the premises,” Chris explains. “We also have plans to expand into our own smokery for meat and cheeses.
Opening a smokery is just a part of Chris and Jan’s plans for Florentines Deli.
“We also hope to develop the coffee shop, with extra seating in the garden. Our current menu features freshly cooked home-made dishes such as Bubble and Squeak with a free-range poached egg on top, curries, lasagna and much more, all accompanied by a choice of six coffees and more than 20 teas plus cereal drinks such as Ovaltine and Horlicks.”
Call in and sample the truly delicious patisserie and delicatessen at Florentines Deli Penarth, open 9 to 5 Monday to Saturday, and open for Sunday lunch every other weekend.
